The lean read
What happened?

Tibo announced a day-21 Codex reset on October 26 under an earlier improve-or-reset pledge.

Why does it matter?

The announcement is narrower than verified account delivery, and a separate ChatGPT appearance reminder should not be mistaken for a Codex launch.

What happened?

Tibo Sottiaux, posting as @thsottiaux, announced a reset on October 26 in a post labeled day 21. He framed it as part of a continuing shipping sequence and referred to seven remaining days. The post is an announcement, not an account-by-account record of delivery.

The context is his October 4 pledge: over 28 days, each day would bring either a meaningful improvement relevant to most Codex/work users or a full reset. The later post invokes that alternative without detailing account eligibility or how the reset would propagate.

A separate October 26 post reminded readers that ChatGPT’s appearance can be customized on the web. It named ChatGPT, not Codex. Neither that reminder nor the reset post establishes a newly launched Codex web-theme feature.

Our take

Why does it matter?

Our analysis: an improve-or-reset promise gives users a visible way to track a shipping campaign. But the announcement and the practical benefit are different questions. Readers still need account-specific information before treating a reset as extra capacity they can use.

The responsible reading is narrow: a reset was announced under the pledge. It is not proof of unlimited usage, Free-tier eligibility or a change reaching every account. Separating that statement from the ChatGPT appearance reminder also prevents two adjacent posts from becoming one invented product release.

Update November 2: the pledge ends with account switching and banked resets

The final posts in Tibo Sottiaux's 28-day sequence describe two different changes. On October 31 he said users could switch between multiple accounts on mobile, with desktop coming soon. On November 1 he posted “Banked 1/2” and then “Day 28/ Banked 2/2.” Those posts establish announcements by the author, not delivery records for every account or proof that every user can redeem both resets.

OpenAI's current account-switching help page confirms up to two signed-in ChatGPT accounts on web and iOS/Android, with chats, memory, files, settings, billing and workspaces kept separate. It does not document Codex desktop switching. The reset help page describes a banked reset as a one-time free reset saved for later; eligibility, affected limit, delivery and expiry depend on the offer, plan, workspace and region, and receiving the benefit does not refresh usage immediately.

That makes the practical result narrower than a permanent quota expansion. Account switching separates identities; it does not merge subscriptions or bypass eligibility. A banked reset is a conditional reserve, not API credit and not evidence that a usage window has already been restored. Readers should inspect the account UI and offer terms rather than infer access from the public countdown posts.
